Week In Rock: Laborious Edition” - Gothamist.com
While there are plenty of Emo-tinged pop punk bands that speckle the top 40 landscape today, few come across as complete and credible as Paramore. Celebrating their latest record going Platinum this week, these kids from Nashville headlined Summerstage Thursday night to an enthusiastic crowd of youngins. Their unrelenting energy is only topped by the genuine singing ability of pint-sized frontgrrrl Hayley Williams, whose voice powers through song after song as she tirelessly does laps around the stage. While their current tour, with Phantom Planet and others, is soon coming to a close, the final blast of hype before heading back to the studio will come from when they perform at the VMAs a week from Sunday.

Just so you guys know, I’m gonna start a ‘new thing’ on here, where I’ll post new-er articles 3-4 times a week (that way, it’s not like I’m just posting 1 a day).
“Paramore, They’ve hit heights” - NorthJersey.com
It’s hard not to be in awe of Paramore. Following sophomore release “Riot!” came a Grammy nomination, non-stop international tours, a host of TV gigs and two Teen Choice Awards.
Paramore, the band. Left to right: Jeremy Davis, Josh Farro, Hayley Williams and Zac Farro.Along the way they’ve collected a monstrous die-hard following — you might remember the excitement of the crowd when this four-piece took to the stage outside Giants Stadium this year — that includes tweens and twentysomethings who shamelessly head-bang to their infectious anthems.
Oh, did we mention that most of the band members are too young to drink?
‘Great Orange Hope’
“[Our age has] never really been an issue for us,” said Hayley Williams, 19, the petite frontwoman with zesty red-orange hair. “We don’t really see ourselves at any certain age – we just enjoy music. [That’s] worked to our advantage.”
But even Williams knows how easy it is to dismiss her and the guys as sugary posers. “We obviously come off on the circuit as a top band — we’re on the radio, we’ve had videos on MTV, [there’s] a chick in the band, we’re all young — it can be very gimmicky. But I think when people decide to take a closer look, I think we’re a little more than the red hair, the age, the radio play. I like to believe there’s something more there.”
John Mayer, captivated by the voice and charisma of Williams, nicknamed her “The Great Orange Hope” on his blog. E-Street Band drummer Max Weinberg was impressed with the band, rounded out by guitarist Josh Farro, 20, bassist Jeremy Davis, 22, and drummer Zac Farro, 18.
Smitten by their performance at Warped Tour, Weinberg pulled his star-studded strings to get them on “Late Night With Conan O’Brien.”
“We get offstage, get on our bus and 10 minutes later we get a knock and a door opening and it’s Max Weinberg,” Williams recalled. “Before he leaves he says, ‘Hey, so I’ll put in a good word at Conan.’ We were like, ‘Umm … all right, man, we’ll see you later.’ Before we knew it we were getting calls from the people at ‘Conan.’Ÿ”
Staying grounded
Regardless of lofty recognition, the Tennessee-based foursome stays grounded by writing candidly to fans on their Web site and LiveJournal blog – a connection that Williams says is what pushes her at live shows.
“[What motivates me] is seeing people in the crowd and wondering what they’re going home to and what they’re dealing with, and knowing that for the time being we’re their escape,” she said.
Paramore will write its third album following the tour, but not before a long-deserved vacation and two dates in Mexico with Nine Inch Nails and the Stone Temple Pilots.
“I think it’s definitely getting close to time for a break,” Williams said, quickly adding, “Not a break from music, but a break from touring.”
Time off from music is unheard of for this devotee, who plans to pursue other aspects of the industry in the future.
“We’re in a good place as young individuals. We have a lot of opportunity because this business is the best place to just do anything,” she said.
Williams’ determination belies her youth, but talk of the presidential election provides a reminder.
“This is the first year that the guys and I can all vote,” she said.
Yikes.
“Lead Singer Hayley Williams Brings Women’s Voice To Paramore” - Courant.com
When Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams finished the lyrics to “Misery Business,” her band’s best-known single to date, she was a little reluctant to share what she’d written.
“I didn’t want to show the guys the lyrics,” Williams, the group’s lone female, says in an e-mail interview. “I felt like such a girl!”
Until then, she says, Paramore’s songs were “genderless” and general enough that anyone could relate. With “Misery Business,” she decided to get specific and write from the perspective of a girl who’s just bested the school trollop by stealing the boyfriend she never deserved.
“Whoa, I never meant to brag/ but I got him where I want him now,” the chorus goes, and even if Williams’ narrator means what she says, she’s clearly getting a thrill out of sticking it to her rival.
“This one had a catty edge to it,” Williams admits. “I’m glad I was able to say those things, though, because girls (and guys too) tell me that it’s one of the most relatable songs we have. It makes me feel good that people can use the song to their advantage.”
Williams might have known better than to doubt the strength of the song, which became the first single from the Tennessee quintet’s 2007 sophomore smash, “RIOT!”
Comprising musicians still in or barely out of their teens — Williams is just 19 — Paramore excels at turning adolescent emotion into kinetic three-minute rock songs. While it’s hardly the first band to mix pop, punk and study-hall poetry, it does so with rare conviction and songwriting flare.
After more than a year of touring in support of the album, the group is in the midst of its aptly named “Final RIOT! Tour,” which stops Saturday in Wallingford. Later this year, the band will take a break from the road and focus on writing for its third album.
“We all have different influences, and I’m sure they will all come through even more on the next record,” Williams says.
In past interviews, the orange-haired singer has professed her love for artists ranging from Etta James to the Cure, and though she’s reluctant to speculate on what direction the next record might take, she insists the band won’t alter its sound to fit any specific styles.
“We just want to sound like Paramore,” she says. “I think that’s what will make us and our fans the happiest.”
“Paramore shows the heart in their song” - TwinCities.com
There’s something innately likable about Paramore’s lead singer Hayley Williams, and that was immediately apparent Tuesday night during the pop-punk band’s headlining performance at the Minnesota State Fair.
Despite her shock of dyed hair — John Mayer famously called her “the great orange hope” — the 19-year-old Mississippi native comes across as refreshingly free from the often-ridiculous limitations that come with being a woman in rock. She’s not the type of overly mannered, stage-school graduate that populates “American Idol,” nor does she display the carefully crafted and paper-thin “rebel” persona of Avril Lavigne. If anything, Williams seems grounded and nearly — gasp — normal. That approachability has helped make her an instant icon with teen girls around the world.
Not to say Williams hasn’t learned her share of rock-star tricks.
From the moment Paramore took the stage, it was obvious those overseas festival dates earlier this summer taught the band a thing or two about the elevated energy needed to play to the cheap seats.
Ironically enough, though, this show’s relatively modest attendance of about 3,500 meant the majority of those cheap seats were empty. And, perhaps because of the soft ticket sales, the band’s management decided less than an hour before showtime they would not allow local media to photograph the show.
No matter. The kids who did show up brought the enthusiasm of a crowd three times the size and were so revved up they bent the security fence in front of the stage during Phantom Planet’s mediocre set earlier in the evening. Newcomers Paper Route opened the night, while piano-driven emo rockers Jack’s Mannequin proved to be an ideal warm-up for the main attraction with a clutch of lively, vaguely disco-influenced songs.
Drawing from both their albums, with an emphasis on last year’s platinum-seller “Riot,” Williams barked out the rockers and brought out a surprisingly tender aspect of her voice during the mid-tempo numbers and ballads that, somehow, felt more intimate on the outdoor stage of the Fair than in a packed club. She dedicated the acoustic cut “My Heart” to the LiveJournal community that follows the band online and has forged a bond with the band that simply wasn’t possible back in the glory days of Blondie and Pat Benatar, two obvious influences.
It’ll be interesting to see where Paramore goes from here. While most of the crowd was young enough to never have paid their own car insurance, the band did draw a noticeable number of adult women, a following that can only grow with time.
“THE PARAMORE THE MERRIER” - NYPost.com
Hayley Williams has forgotten what it’s like to wake up in her own bed.
The lead singer of the pop/punk group Paramore has been catching her zzz’s in hotel rooms and tour buses for the last 14 months - but she doesn’t miss her soft down comforter.
“I’ve only been home for two days and that was for a friend’s wedding,” says Williams, who, along with her bandmates, resides in Franklin, Tenn. “[Laughs] But I don’t care. The past year and change has been crazy. We’re enjoying every second of it.”
Paramore, which includes Josh Farro (lead guitar), his younger brother Zac (drums) and Jeremy Davis (bass), are finally winding down a frantic tour schedule that helped immensely in promoting their energetic sophomore album, “Riot!,” which has gone platinum since its June 2007 release.
The youthful quartet has enjoyed trips across the pond, with visits to Ireland and France, as well as appearances in virtually every US city - mostly with the Vans Warped Tour. In addition to recruiting fans, they’ve also made some new friends.
“We’ve played shows with Rage Against The Machine, Jimmy Eat World and John Mayer,” says Williams. “We’ve been humbled by this experience.”
And it’s not over yet. Paramore will rock Rumsey Playfield in Central Park Thursday night.
“When we first found out we were playing there I was like ‘Is that even legal?’ I can’t tell you how psyched we are,” says Williams, who plans on sampling some of the band’s Top 40 hits, like “Misery Business,” “Hallelujah” and “Crushcrushcrush.”
And while the group, which earned a Grammy nod for “Best New Artist,” deserves a massive break, they’re giving it a pass for now. With new material in the bank, the foursome plans to write for the next few months, head back into the studio in December and have their third album finished by next summer.
“I love the fact that both of our albums came out in the summertime,” says Williams. “It’s all about having fun and listening to music. We want to give people something to party to.”

“BIG NEWS!” - by hayley - 8/22/2008
BIG news…we are performing at the VMAs!! I can’t believe it! When I was a kid, I begged my mother to let me stay up and watch the VMA’s beginning to end. Once Britney took off her outfit and was creepin’ around in that see-through thing, I thought to myself, “well, hell, that’s the last I’ll see of MTV”. Now here we are, performers ourselves. Its such a huge honor and we really can’t wait!

“disclaimer: i’m not depressed. i’m actually severely happy.” - by hayley - 8/18/2008
but… i was just thinkin about life. i was thinkin a little about “fame” and “celebrity” (what a great nsync record). this is not about to be some crazy profound thing. you’re not going to get smarter nor will i look much smarter to you after reading this post… i’m just saying, i was thinkin… and i wanted to write about it.
the past year and a half has not been easy or hard. honestly, i can’t remember much of it because it went by too fast for me to understand what was actually going on. it still surprises me when i hear one of our songs on the radio or see a picture of us in a magazine. i still don’t get why the hell someone would care to have one of our signatures on something of theirs haha. on a daily basis, we are asked, if not by a journalist then by a fan, what it feels like to be famous and yet i still draw a blank every time. because, to me, we are just the same. the only true difference between the life we lived before riot and the life we live now is that every little thing. every. insignificant. thing. that we do is cared for in some way. whether it be concern, obsession, hate, a genuine interest or delight… everyone has their opinion and we hear them all at some point. i really don’t mind listening. yes, it can get old. it can be humorous or enraging or just plain sad… nothing changes the fact that there’s always someone out there coming up with new theories about us, new ideas so that they can get a grip or put a handle on who we are. i might sound bitter but actually i’m just a little bit fascinated. i still haven’t really figured out what it means to be known of but not understood in any way shape or form. i could fill a hundred pages of lyrics, poetry, broken thoughts and still never be understood even the slightest. it’s a good thing. i just don’t get it yet.
life has never been so exciting and so wonder-full. the greatest part is not understanding it. not being able to tell what’s next. everyone wants what they can’t have but when i look back on days i thought i wanted something completely different than all of this - i can see how stupid that was. how selfish i was to ever try putting myself in someone else’s story. (neverending stooryyyyy!!! … sorry).
to sum up these scattered thoughts i would like to say this: when we think we know people inside out and we think we know what’s best for them we should try to remember we don’t even know what’s best for ourselves.
love,

This week’s photo comes from Timothy in Locust Fork, Alabama. He snapped a great picture of the band humbly taking a bow after their Final Riot! show in Memphis. What a great moment, one that reminds us how great this tour has been, and will continue to be…because of YOU, the lovely Paramore fans.

“WIN A DATE WITH ME/FBR NEWSLETTER!” - by hayley - 8/14/2008
apparently, there’s a radio station in rhode island offering callers a chance to win a date with me. WHOA!? i mean, they could be talking about tickets to the show; trying to play it up to be funny. not so funny if people believe it, though.
just wanted to clear everything up… let you guys know… no one will be winning a date with anybody in our band. but it is pretty funny to think that somewhere in rhode island some kid has the station on speed dial thinking it’s true. alright, maybe not!
this tour is a blast. we are headed to NYC for a day off tomorrow before going to z100 the next morning to do some acoustic performance. should be a good time. i am loving acoustic performances more and more. i wish we had more to do! i dunno what we’re gonna do with ourselves having a whole day off in the city. i love new york. maybe i’ll make a trash and vaudeville visit. (like i need more clothes… NOPE!!!) think i’m gonna hang with mr. john janick… the dude that makes it all happen. it’s been a while since we’ve hung with him and he’s always a lot of fun to talk to about music with. plus, we all share a love for pinkberry. YES!
after NYC it’s on to philly. one of our favorite cities to play. nothing like south street. i wonder if we’re playing there this time? i don’t think so for some reason… but i hardly ever look at our schedule i just get on the bus and go with everyone.
today was my baby sis’ first day of school. is summer seriously over?! my mom just told me that i used to beg her to pack salads for me in kindergarten for lunch hahah i don’t remember that. what kind of little kid wants salads for lunch? what happened to lunchables? anyone here remember lunchables? haha the pizza kind were ridiculous. but by the time i hit middle school i was a cafeteria food eatin’ kid. i would always forget to bring lunch money and have to have them put it on my school credit. so, i owed like 50 bucks by the end of each month haha. what a loser, hayley. speaking of all of this, my yearbook photo comes out tomorrow. joy.
hahah

CHI-TOWN! CHI-TOWN!
Thank you so much to everyone who came out to the show tonight. This was the best show of the tour so far.
As you might have heard - or maybe you didnt? - we filmed the show tonight for a DVD that we hope to release later this year. We had original plans to shoot the show in Central Park next week but due to complications with our production set up and the venue, we had to change locations. I have to say, at first we were a little disappointed cause we were counting on NYC but now that we’ve filmed the show and played Chicago we are MORE than stoked that tonight was the night.
I realized before we came out for encore that it was here that we played our first ever headlining show, in 2006. So, it’s even more special that we had to switch to tonight to film. Just feels right.
I gotta run cause we’re about to leave and I wanna go hang with some people from the show. They’ve been hangin outside for a while now. Just to let you guys know we got our PARAMORE RIOT BOOKS in tonight. They pretty much serve the same purpose as a year book. TONS AND TONS of pics and lyric sheets, production notes from The Final Riot Tour. And member bios. Ryan Russell did all the photos for the book… we know how much we all love that dude. So check em out at the merch booth, we think you’ll be stoked on em.
GOTTA RUN!

“TWO SURF BOARDS! (should’ve made this post earlier, sorry!)” - by Paramore - 8/12/2008
THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH FOR WINNING US TWO TEEN CHOICE AWARDS!
Best Rock Track with “crushcrushcrush” and Best Rock Group!these are the first awards we’ve ever won as a band and we’re stoked about it.
we just got back on the bus and we’re headed for the V-Fest. playing with Nine Inch Nails… woohooo!!!
i’m really gonna have to get some sleep since we’re playing so much earlier in the day than usual (around 2pm, i think??). but really, we all just wanted to drop by and tell you guys how much we appreciate the ridiculous support. on top of the teen choice craziness, we’ve been getting all kind of updates on our video stats on the VMA voting site. thank you guys for all of it. awards really have nothing to do with why our band is a band but being supported to this extent is indescribable. we will see you guys on tour!!!love,

This one comes from Isel in Tijuana, who must have had a blast being that close to the band on the FInal Riot! Tour in San Diego. Isel caught a great shot of Hayley with a finger in the air, as the lights of the Final Riot! blazed behind her. Nice work Isel!
As usual, we are loving your photo submissions, so keep them coming via the Submit a Photo page.

“just like huck finn.” - by hayley - 8/5/2008
yesterday, we floated down the buffalo river… in canoes. it was a 6 mile journey of which we tackled with such a tenacity we might’ve been mistaken for a gang of modern day pirates. who knows?! i only had enough battery to take and send one picture of the little picnic we had on a river bank… you can check it out on our mobile stream at paramore.net!
needless to say, our couple of off days have been nice. josh and zac traveled home and the rest of us just did what we do best… hang out and be pirates. i got a call around 7am (which is not a good hour for me) from josh saying that all the flights were cancelled and he didn’t know what they were going to do about getting to arkansas. lucky for all of us, our friend brandon - who’s filming for a little DVD we’re putting out later this year - is heading this way and he hadn’t left yet… so josh and zac are taking the road trip with him and will make it in time. hopefully, they’ll be here before meet and greet!
little rock is a really nice place. we haven’t spent much time here as a band. most of you will know, this is jeremy’s hometown. he knows it like the back of his hand; he’s got stories to tell for every corner of just about every street. it’s really cool seeing a bit of his stomping grounds. hopefully, we’ll have time outside of press today to walk around and enjoy some of the city. there are all kind of funky shops… places i could get into some trouble at if i don’t keep a close guard on my per diem!
leave you with this classy little number of myself thru a fisheye lens.
“hi again.” - by hayley - 8/3/2008
mesa, arizona is scorching hot!!! my pale-ness is in a state of shock. SPF 1000 alert!!! haha
i finally finished new moon today (2nd in the twilight saga). i have been struggling through it due to the on-off-ness of our touring state the past few months. i missed the breaking dawn party last night at borders… probably a good thing because i would’ve been so excited the temptation to skip right over eclipse and tear into breaking dawn would’ve overcome me and then what kind of mess would i be in?? so anyways, now i’m a chapter into the 3rd book and the 4th will be waiting on me when i get home. (i reserved a copy - YES!) i’m stoked for the twilight movie. i think it’s gonna be really good. i’m definitely going to dress up as a vampire to go see it. wanna fight about it?
tomorrow is a drive day and we’ll be headed somewhere between here and little rock to stay the night, before we have another day off in little rock. jeremy’s taking us canoeing or something which i’m way too excited for. he’s been trying to take us on that trip since 2004 when we started playing shows outside TN. we’ll make sure to take some good pics of that for you guys. it’s about time we update our myspace photo section anyways.
our first band BBQ is happening today at the fan club M&G. we are stoked. it’s about time we organized these types of things. it makes it more fun for us and more personal for you guys, i think. i couldn’t stand the tables or the lines… that’s for a festival setting. for our own shows we’d like to think it’s possible that we can always talk to you guys and have real connection on and off the stage. i know times change but… we’ll keep resisting haha.
anyone out there hailing from manila, philippines? NFG is playing a festival or something there tonight with a whole bunch of other bands. if anyone is going… ransack the stage and give chad a big ol’ bear hug for me. okay don’t really do that… it’s possible you could get into trouble, it’s a pretty big festival. um let’s see, there has to be another option. maybe a sign? “hayley says ‘hi”??? umm… well, whatever, if you’re going just have a great time! they’re gonna be so awesome!!!
alright i’m out haha. that movie shooter just came on. marky mark wahlberg is tearin it up!

“i thought stepbrothers ruled, personally.” - by hayley - 8/2/2008
hello loves,
5 days into the tour, 3 shows - 4th tonight in San Diego. i’m so stoked to be here. i spent yesterday in Los Angeles hangin with some friends. went to Amoeba Music! grabbed In and Out and saw Stepbrothers. what a great day off. (i guess i’m only capitalizing proper nouns, here).
so, the reason i’m posting today is actually to let you guys know that we are running a contest with Sweet Leaf tea. mmm so yummy! together, we are flying two winners out to our show at Central Park in NYC!!! keep looking out for details… either here or at www.sweetleaftea.com!
i have to go soundcheck, sorry this is so short - i’ll be posting more regularly once we really get into the tour. thanks so much to everyone who’s already come out to a show or has already bought tickets to an upcoming show. we’re having a blast so far and it’s only gonna get better.
okay, really gotta run! laterrr

Paramore At The MTV Video Music Awards!
As you probably already know/have heard, Paramore will be playing at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, and they’re up for an award (Best Rock Video). Here is the Myspace bulletin they posted a few days ago announcing the exciting news!

More Articles!
As promised here are some more articles. This first one is from the local paper where I live, called “The Plain Dealer”. They recently interviewed Hayley.
Pop-punk band Paramore is getting a lot of mileage out of its 2007 album “Riot!,” which has yielded a string of hits, including “crushcrushcrush.” Carrot-topped singer Hayley Williams, 19, gave us a ring last week before a gig in Asbury Park, N.J.
Q: John Mayer called you “the great orange hope.”
A: Yeah. [laughs] It was pretty funny. John’s an awesome dude. We’ve hung out with him a couple times. He always has good things to say, not necessarily about us, but just music in general.
Q: Congratulations on your MTV Video Music Award nomination for “crushcrushcrush.” Do you have fond memories of making the video?
A: Yeah, totally. It was just such a different experience for us. We’d never shot a video outside before, using a lot of natural light. Definitely were attacked by Mother Nature a couple times. There was a huge sand storm right in the middle of our set. It killed the catering. But I had a blast doing it. You can probably tell just from the hair extensions, the clothes, the makeup and everything — it was definitely a cool vibe.
Q: How soon will you get busy on a follow-up to “Riot!”?
A: Me? I’m just getting warmed up. I’m waiting to get home to really focus on the lyrics and the melodies and stuff. I do better when I’m at home or when I’m in a place where I can just put all my focus into one thing. Maybe it’s the ADD. I don’t know. Obviously we’re going through plenty of things as a band all the time. . . . but we don’t really deal with normal situations on the road. And I like to write about life that everyone can relate to. Josh [Farro, Paramore guitarist] is doing well with the music side of things. He’s writing a lot. I’m really excited about the things I’m hearing from Josh. . . . There’s been some really heavy stuff; there’s been some really beautiful, lighter type of stuff. We really would like to have something out by next summer.
Q: Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders, another female-fronted rock band, doesn’t like to make a big deal about her gender. Do you feel the same?
A: Yeah. It’s not something I like to focus on, just because it’s never been something that mattered to us as a band. The fact that I’m a girl just doesn’t really have anything to do with it. We play music just the same as a bunch of dudes that are onstage with no girls in sight. There’s not really any gender. Maybe that sounds weird, but I just don’t think about gender when it comes to music. I just create music and have fun doing that. Some guys don’t get it. Some girls don’t get it. But I enjoy it. The main thing I think that we want to make sure people know is, we’re not the band to capitalize on my sexuality. I’m a girl. I have a different voice than if I were a guy. I look different, I wear different clothes and do my hair different. But I highly doubt I’m the chick that’s gonna be flying around in a cropped T-shirt and miniskirt.
This next article is from Buzznet. They interviewed here, and she talks about Paramore’s fame.
Paramore’s RIOT! has gone gold and the band has thousands of fans in every city, but Hayley Williams still doesn’t feel like she’s famous.
“It still surprises me when I hear one of our songs on the radio or see a picture of us in a magazine. I still don’t get why the hell someone would care to have one of our signatures on something of theirs … haha. On a daily basis, we are asked, if not by a journalist then by a fan, what it feels like to be famous, and yet I still draw a blank every time. Because, to me, we are just the same. The only true difference between the life we lived before RIOT! and the life we live now is that every little thing, every-insignificant-thing that we do is cared for in some way,” Williams wrote in a recent entry on the band’s Livejournal page.
And just so you know … Williams does pay attention the things that are written about her … so watch what you say online! “Whether it be concern, obsession, hate, a genuine interest or delight … everyone has their opinion and we hear them all at some point. I just don’t get it yet.”
Do you think Paramore is famous? Do you feel Williams is being modest or does she really feel the same?
Paramore has announced plans to release a live DVD from their recent show in Chicago. The band is currently on the “Final Riot” tour with Jack’s Mannequin.
More to come later, possibly.

I’m back and ready to start updating again! Here are a few articles, more to come soon.
Paramore Ready To Tour & Make New Album –
After multiple U.S. tours that have seen Nashville, Tenn., emo rockers Paramore go from clubs to large venues, bassist Jeremy Davis is still nervous about the opening night of his band’s tour.
“I won’t be nervous after the first or second night,” Davis said, calling from Reno, Nev. “I’ve got some friends here, so I’m hoping everything goes well. But we have a whole new set that’s a really long, detailed set list, a lot of stuff we’ve never done before. I’ve very excited about it.”
Flint Journal ExtrasDavis explained that the faith-based group, led by spitfire lead singer Hayley Williams, isn’t just performing the hits like “Crushcrushcrush” and “Misery Business” from its two albums, “All We Know is Falling” and the platinum-selling “Riot!” The Warped Tour veterans are playing deep cuts as well.
“Some of the new stuff we’re playing is really cool,” Davis said. “It’s a lot more fun to play. We were playing the same old thing for a long, long time. Some are songs we’ve never played before. All the other songs that we’ve played before. The songs we did before, most of them we play different than we ever played before. We redid them, and it’s a lot of fun.”
“Riot!” was released in June 2007, and Davis admitted it’s time to start work on a new album. He said slyly that Paramore — which also includes brothers Josh Farro on lead guitar and drummer Zac Farro — has a few ideas, however, nothing is complete.
“We have some pretty cool ideas that are sounding pretty awesome,” said Davis, whose girlfriend is from Garden City. “I can’t wait to do that. After this tour, we’re going to take off for two weeks, then we have a three-week tour in South America. We’ve never been there before. We’re excited. After that, then we’ll take off and work on a record, probably.”
Those words should soothe tweens and teens who feared Paramore was ending when it canceled its European tour for the dreaded “personal reasons” earlier this year.
“There were lots and lots of rumors going around about all that,” Davis said with a laugh. “We’ve always done what everybody asked us to do and gone wherever we needed to go and done whatever we could for everyone. We’ve never been selfish before.
“After touring that long with no break and no vacations, it got really tough and physically hard on our bodies. We felt we needed to be selfish and take time off.”

Paramore: After Tour, More Work Ahead –
The band’s sophomore album went platinum, much to its surprise.
It’s all about setting goals for Paramore bassist Jeremy Davis.
When the Franklin, Tenn.-based band entered the studio to record its sophomore album “Riot!,” which was released last year, the punk-pop group’s objective was simple.
“Our main goal was to come out of there, be better musicians and just to really make it an experience instead of just going in and throwing down some songs,” said Davis, calling from the V-Fest concert festival in Baltimore, Md. “We wanted to come out of the studio and for people to be able to notice a difference.
“So we spent a lot of time practicing and getting to know our instruments better and working with each other more and even adding more instruments. Literally, that worked wonders for us because we were touring for several years playing the same songs without basically having any time to get better. So that was the biggest difference, and I think it showed.”
He’s right. While Paramore’s 2005 debut effort, “All We Know is Falling,” did get the band noticed, the album failed to break the band into the mainstream. Then came the late spring 2007 release “Riot!,” which, buoyed by the success of its four singles – “Misery Business,” “Hallelujah,” “Crushcrushcrush” and “That’s What You Get” – has gone platinum.
Davis said nobody is more surprised about the disc’s success than the band itself.
“When we released the album ‘Riot!,’ we had a goal to sell 500,000 records by the time we came out with another record,” Davis said. “So it was amazing to us when we crossed 500,000 the first few months in. It was the biggest shock ever. Then we had to make new goals for ourselves, but it was pretty cool.”
One of the goals of the Hayley Williams-led band was to polish its live show. After many touring legs, including on last summer’s Warped Tour and last fall as an opener for Jimmy Eat World, the foursome is now on its last outing. “The Final RIOT! Tour” comes to Northeast Ohio for an Aug. 24 show at the Time Warner Cable Amphitheatre at Tower City.
The current set list includes all of the group’s hits, many of which are reworked.
The band is also performing Jeff Buckley’s version of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ as an intro to its own track “Hallelujah.” Davis said something else exciting for fans is the fact that the group is playing “Riot!” track “We Are Broken” for the first time. The song has been completely dismantled and changed from its studio form.
Perhaps such an adventurous performance within the live realm will lend itself to Paramore getting creative with its highly anticipated third studio album, which the band hopes to record this fall and release next summer.
Davis admits fears abound within the band regarding its next project. He said there are too many examples of one-album wonders for this quartet to take things lightly. That means there are plenty of goals left in this band’s future.
“If there was something with the next album I was afraid of, it would be that it was viewed as a fad kind of music,” Davis said. “We’re all in this for the long run, and that’s why we took the grass-roots route in the first place, to establish a good fan base.
“So I’d hate to have us fall off the face of the planet. That’s kind of one of my worst fears.”

Hayley Williams: ‘I’m NOT depressed’ –
Haley Williams has taken to her blog to muse about the success of her band over the past 18 months, and denies she is in any depressed.
In a blog entitled ‘disclaimer: i’m not depressed. i’m actually severely happy’, the Paramore singer says:
“i was thinkin… and i wanted to write about it. the past year and a half has not been easy or hard. honestly, i can’t remember much of it because it went by too fast for me to understand what was actually going on. it still surprises me when i hear one of our songs on the radio or see a picture of us in a magazine. i still don’t get why the hell someone would care to have one of our signatures on something of theirs haha.”
She goes on to say she “draws a blank” every time she is asked what it’s like to be famous, and is fascinated by the interest in her and her band.
“nothing changes the fact that there’s always someone out there coming up with new theories about us, new ideas so that they can get a grip or put a handle on who we are” she writes. “i might sound bitter but actually i’m just a little bit fascinated. i still haven’t really figured out what it means to be known of but not understood in any way shape or form. i could fill a hundred pages of lyrics, poetry, broken thoughts and still never be understood even the slightest. it’s a good thing. i just don’t get it yet.”
And she says she regrets ever feeling that she may have wanted to give it all up saying:
“everyone wants what they can’t have but when i look back on days i thought i wanted something completely different than all of this - i can see how stupid that was. how selfish i was to ever try putting myself in someone else’s story.”

Washington (ANI): Rihanna, Paramore
While Rihanna will be performing her "Umbrella" hit along with a live rendition of her new hit "Disturbia", Pink will give an explosive performance with her new single "So What".
"I can't wait," People magazine quoted Pink, as saying. Rapper T.I. is also set to perform at the event after his arrest in Atlanta last year. SPIN Magazine Article
This article is from about a month ago, but I still thought it was worth posting. It’s from the Spin Magazine website. There are also some pretty awesome pictures that were posted with the article. :] I’ll add them to the gallery now.
Joining the likes of Death Cab for Cutie and Wolfmother before them, Franklin, TN’s punk mavens Paramore were honored last night (March 27) at Hard Rock’s state-of-the-art flagship venue in Orlando, FL with the rock’n'roll establishment’s highest respect: The Hard Rock Artist of the Year Award.
As 2008’s recipient of the esteemed prize, Paramore were presented with a glass-encased photo of the band on the cover of this year’s Hard Rock Annual, courtesy of Hard Rock president and CEO Hamish Dodds. In thanks, Paramore offered a smashed guitar and microphone to Hard Rock’s memorabilia collection, both which will be displayed at the Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville.
Once the formalities were said and done, it was time to celebrate; after a slice of cake, Paramore, led by pixie-like frontwoman Hayley Williams, stormed the stage and busted out a set of tunes off the band’s latest album, Riot!, to a packed-to-capacity crowd of over 3,000. And as fans sang along to each and every word, it was proof-positive that Paramore certainly deserved the revered nod.

PARAMORE UNVEIL NEW VIDEO AND SINGLE!
This article is a few days old, but it was posted on Paramore.net, I thought you guys might find it interesting. :]
Fueled By Ramen recording group Paramore has released ‘That’s What You Get‘, the latest single from their RIAA gold-certified second album, ‘RIOT!,’ impacting now at Modern Rock and Top 40 radio outlets nationwide. The track’s companion video clip - directed by Marcos Siega (Weezer, All-American Rejects, Sara Bareilles) - had its all-day ‘Unleashed’ premiere on MTV2 last week and will premiere on MTV’s ‘TRL’ on April 8th. The video has hit #1 on the iTunes Alternative Video Chart and #6 on iTunes overall Video Chart in less than one week.
Paramore recently celebrated the single’s release with a high-profile concert appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live on April 4th. This week, MTV and mtvU will premiere its annual Spring Break extravaganza, taped in Panama City, Florida earlier this month (check local listings).
Paramore also has a full-on touring itinerary which will see the Grammy Award-nominated punk-pop quartet traveling through the summer. First up, the band is currently on a major co-headline tour, sharing the bill with Jimmy Eat World. The tour kicked off April 1st in San Antonio, Texas, with shows continuing through early May. In addition, the Tennessee-based band will be among the headliners at 2008’s two Bamboozle festivals: the Bamboozle Left on Saturday, April 5th in Irvine, California; and the Bamboozle on Saturday, May 3rd at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East, Rutherford, New Jersey. From there, the band will cross the Atlantic to headline the UK’s annual Give It A Name festival, stated for May 10th and 11th in London and Sheffield, respectively.
Paramore’s summer schedule will officially begin on June 30th with a headline show as part of Milwaukee’s yearly Summerfest celebrations. Next on the agenda will be an eagerly awaited slate of mainstage appearances on the upcoming Vans Warped Tour (July 1 - 6), the band’s fourth consecutive year on the tour.
‘RIOT!’ made an explosive chart entry upon its June 2007 release. Boasting two top 5 Modern Rock radio hits in ‘Misery Business‘ and ‘Crushcrushcrush‘, the album quickly went on to achieve RIAA gold certification, with sales now over 800,000. An array of accolades followed, including a ‘Best New Artist’ nod at this year’s 50th Annual Grammy Awards and ‘Band of the Year’ honors from Alternative Press. Having toured nearly non-stop since coming together in 2004, Paramore recently sold out every show of its 22-date North American headline trek.
