SPIN Magazine Article

This article is from about a month ago, but I still thought it was worth posting. It’s from the Spin Magazine website. There are also some pretty awesome pictures that were posted with the article. :] I’ll add them to the gallery now.

Joining the likes of Death Cab for Cutie and Wolfmother before them, Franklin, TN’s punk mavens Paramore were honored last night (March 27) at Hard Rock’s state-of-the-art flagship venue in Orlando, FL with the rock’n'roll establishment’s highest respect: The Hard Rock Artist of the Year Award.

As 2008’s recipient of the esteemed prize, Paramore were presented with a glass-encased photo of the band on the cover of this year’s Hard Rock Annual, courtesy of Hard Rock president and CEO Hamish Dodds. In thanks, Paramore offered a smashed guitar and microphone to Hard Rock’s memorabilia collection, both which will be displayed at the Hard Rock Cafe in Nashville.

Once the formalities were said and done, it was time to celebrate; after a slice of cake, Paramore, led by pixie-like frontwoman Hayley Williams, stormed the stage and busted out a set of tunes off the band’s latest album, Riot!, to a packed-to-capacity crowd of over 3,000. And as fans sang along to each and every word, it was proof-positive that Paramore certainly deserved the revered nod.

I personally think it sounds REALLY good. Here’s the clip (synced with the original music video). You can also listen to the song on Sea Of Treachery’s MySpace.

– A tad bit old, but here’s an article from BuzzNet, including an interview with none other than Hayley and Jeremy! Click here for the article.

Life.

[ mood | melancholy ]
[ music | death in the park. ]

melancholy.

we are in springfield, missouri. just left bass pro shop/outdoor world. today is one of those days, where i feel like if i were at home, in franklin… i’d just want to lay around all day like a sloth. watch a few movies, maybe grab starbucks down the street and bring it back home. maybe cook something??? okay, yeah… probably not. it’s just one of those days. instead, however, i’m sitting around on the bus. talledega nights is on the television in the front lounge and i’m in the back lounge listening to it and watching people walk on and off the bus. is this an exciting story or what?

we don’t play missouri too often. i’m excited to see how the show goes. the venue is really nice… big, as most of them have been, recently. it’s definitely weird playing these half-arenas. (”i never realized how easy it was to half an arena with a machete…” sorry. just a quick ‘Walk Hard’ reference). lately, i’ve really missed those 300-400 cap rooms. heck, even smaller than that. pontiac grille, anyone? or what about the new brooklyn tavern? i think about those shows every night when we’re playing. especially when asking how many people in the crowd have never seen us before. some of these kids are seeing us play for the first time in these huge halved arenas. how crazy is that? it’s not sad… really, although some people might think so. it’s actually pretty ridiculous, haha. they must think we are big time, or something. all this is to say, i can’t really believe where we are right now. it’s weird that i almost forgot where it started. that’s why we had to go home for a whole month and just get away from the hype. we can’t forget where it started… you know? when we do, it’s just pointless.

every band i’ve ever loved, i always saw in really small clubs. other than when i saw coldplay in ‘03 at the reiman auditorium. i don’t know really what it’s like to one day be one person out of 10 at a show and then next thing you know, be wrestling kids to get to the front in some half arena. the closest thing i know to that is seeing coheed in ‘03 at the Muse, then Rocketown in ‘04 (with AFI and Thursday!!!) and then seeing them the past couple years at the warped tour… playing to huge crowds. but at that point, our band had tour passes so i really didn’t have to work that hard to see their set. i really don’t know what it’s like to follow a band the way some of you have followed us and worked hard to stay connected with us as we’ve tried to stay connected with you. so, thank you guys… for sticking with us. hangin in the long ass lines. everything. it’s awesome. and if you are just now getting into all of this, welcome and thank you too, for all the support and enthusiasm you’ve shown.

this was almost a pointless post… but i feel really good about it.
these kind of days are really good, sometimes :)

ps. dear and the headlights are amazing.

lil wayne, ya’ll

… we haven’t shot a live dvd yet. has nothing to do with the city haha we sucked that night. messed up too much. wow, can’t win. and that spelling error was ace as well, huh? sometimes, it happens.

tomorrow is a day off! we’re stoked to be playing another show in Idaho in a couple of days, as we don’t go through there that often. last time we were there was on Warped. the crowd was pretty awesome that day. man, i miss Warped tour. this summer will be strange not being on the whole thing. one week of Warped just isn’t enough. not sure why i’ve been thinking about that so much lately, but i have.

the guys are in the front making videos of themselves dancing to that “lick me like a lollipop” song hahaha. they have carroll - our monitor guy (who rules) - doing all sorts of dances. which i’m sure looks AMAZING. and i’m just chillin’ in my bunk… today took a lot out of me, for some reason. we didn’t hardly do anything but play the show but i’m beat. oh man, now it’s “smack that”. i’m gonna wait to watch the videos, i don’t want to ruin it for myself. who knows maybe the guys will decide to post those?

well this has been a really informative livejournal post. haha. hope you guys are doin’ well.
if we haven’t seen you at a show yet, we’ll see you soon!

PARAMORE UNVEIL NEW VIDEO AND SINGLE!

This article is a few days old, but it was posted on Paramore.net, I thought you guys might find it interesting. :]

Fueled By Ramen recording group Paramore has released ‘That’s What You Get‘, the latest single from their RIAA gold-certified second album, ‘RIOT!,’ impacting now at Modern Rock and Top 40 radio outlets nationwide. The track’s companion video clip - directed by Marcos Siega (Weezer, All-American Rejects, Sara Bareilles) - had its all-day ‘Unleashed’ premiere on MTV2 last week and will premiere on MTV’s ‘TRL’ on April 8th. The video has hit #1 on the iTunes Alternative Video Chart and #6 on iTunes overall Video Chart in less than one week.

Paramore recently celebrated the single’s release with a high-profile concert appearance on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live on April 4th. This week, MTV and mtvU will premiere its annual Spring Break extravaganza, taped in Panama City, Florida earlier this month (check local listings).

Paramore also has a full-on touring itinerary which will see the Grammy Award-nominated punk-pop quartet traveling through the summer. First up, the band is currently on a major co-headline tour, sharing the bill with Jimmy Eat World. The tour kicked off April 1st in San Antonio, Texas, with shows continuing through early May. In addition, the Tennessee-based band will be among the headliners at 2008’s two Bamboozle festivals: the Bamboozle Left on Saturday, April 5th in Irvine, California; and the Bamboozle on Saturday, May 3rd at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in East, Rutherford, New Jersey. From there, the band will cross the Atlantic to headline the UK’s annual Give It A Name festival, stated for May 10th and 11th in London and Sheffield, respectively.

Paramore’s summer schedule will officially begin on June 30th with a headline show as part of Milwaukee’s yearly Summerfest celebrations. Next on the agenda will be an eagerly awaited slate of mainstage appearances on the upcoming Vans Warped Tour (July 1 - 6), the band’s fourth consecutive year on the tour.

‘RIOT!’ made an explosive chart entry upon its June 2007 release. Boasting two top 5 Modern Rock radio hits in ‘Misery Business‘ and ‘Crushcrushcrush‘, the album quickly went on to achieve RIAA gold certification, with sales now over 800,000. An array of accolades followed, including a ‘Best New Artist’ nod at this year’s 50th Annual Grammy Awards and ‘Band of the Year’ honors from Alternative Press. Having toured nearly non-stop since coming together in 2004, Paramore recently sold out every show of its 22-date North American headline trek.

Win Josh’s Guitar & New Jeremy Interview

– Want to win the guitar that Josh is using for the Jimmy Eat World/Paramore tour? Head on over to www.paramore.net/fender . Contest ends May 5th and the winner will be picked May 9th.

– Jeremy very recently did an interview with Mercury News. Here is a little snippet of the article. (If you want to read the full article, click here):

Davis knows something about an age gap himself. He first played in a funk cover band with Williams, four years his junior, when she was about 13. A couple of years later, she approached Davis about joining a new band she was starting with her friends Josh and Zac Farro. Davis was taken aback when he showed up at the first rehearsal and found that drummer Zac was 12.

“I had very, very, very little faith in everyone in the band because of their age,” says Davis, who was already an experienced musician with some Nashville session work under his belt. But he was quickly won over.

“Some of the ideas that come out of Josh and Zac and Hayley’s heads - it astounds me at times, because I remember how young they are. I just feel like they’re super-creative.”

Because of their history together, Davis has a unique perspective on Williams’ talents.

“I still feel like no one in this world has heard Hayley sing like I have,” he says. “Really, she holds back so much. There’s like a big Aretha Franklin inside of her that is just powerful, and just crazy, and no one’s really heard that side of Hayley.”

Even “holding back,” Williams has impressed nearly everyone who has come across her music with a powerful voice and stage presence. Many have speculated that the band’s recent problems stemmed from the attention Williams receives from the press at the expense of her bandmates, particularly her songwriting partner, guitarist Josh Farro.

Davis scoffs at that idea.
