“BIG NEWS!” - by hayley - 8/22/2008

BIG news…we are performing at the VMAs!! I can’t believe it! When I was a kid, I begged my mother to let me stay up and watch the VMA’s beginning to end. Once Britney took off her outfit and was creepin’ around in that see-through thing, I thought to myself, “well, hell, that’s the last I’ll see of MTV”. Now here we are, performers ourselves. Its such a huge honor and we really can’t wait!

“disclaimer: i’m not depressed. i’m actually severely happy.” - by hayley - 8/18/2008

but… i was just thinkin about life. i was thinkin a little about “fame” and “celebrity” (what a great nsync record). this is not about to be some crazy profound thing. you’re not going to get smarter nor will i look much smarter to you after reading this post… i’m just saying, i was thinkin… and i wanted to write about it.

the past year and a half has not been easy or hard. honestly, i can’t remember much of it because it went by too fast for me to understand what was actually going on. it still surprises me when i hear one of our songs on the radio or see a picture of us in a magazine. i still don’t get why the hell someone would care to have one of our signatures on something of theirs haha. on a daily basis, we are asked, if not by a journalist then by a fan, what it feels like to be famous and yet i still draw a blank every time. because, to me, we are just the same. the only true difference between the life we lived before riot and the life we live now is that every little thing. every. insignificant. thing. that we do is cared for in some way. whether it be concern, obsession, hate, a genuine interest or delight… everyone has their opinion and we hear them all at some point. i really don’t mind listening. yes, it can get old. it can be humorous or enraging or just plain sad… nothing changes the fact that there’s always someone out there coming up with new theories about us, new ideas so that they can get a grip or put a handle on who we are. i might sound bitter but actually i’m just a little bit fascinated. i still haven’t really figured out what it means to be known of but not understood in any way shape or form. i could fill a hundred pages of lyrics, poetry, broken thoughts and still never be understood even the slightest. it’s a good thing. i just don’t get it yet.

life has never been so exciting and so wonder-full. the greatest part is not understanding it. not being able to tell what’s next. everyone wants what they can’t have but when i look back on days i thought i wanted something completely different than all of this - i can see how stupid that was. how selfish i was to ever try putting myself in someone else’s story. (neverending stooryyyyy!!! … sorry).

to sum up these scattered thoughts i would like to say this: when we think we know people inside out and we think we know what’s best for them we should try to remember we don’t even know what’s best for ourselves.

“WIN A DATE WITH ME/FBR NEWSLETTER!” - by hayley - 8/14/2008

apparently, there’s a radio station in rhode island offering callers a chance to win a date with me. WHOA!? i mean, they could be talking about tickets to the show; trying to play it up to be funny. not so funny if people believe it, though.

just wanted to clear everything up… let you guys know… no one will be winning a date with anybody in our band. but it is pretty funny to think that somewhere in rhode island some kid has the station on speed dial thinking it’s true. alright, maybe not!

this tour is a blast. we are headed to NYC for a day off tomorrow before going to z100 the next morning to do some acoustic performance. should be a good time. i am loving acoustic performances more and more. i wish we had more to do! i dunno what we’re gonna do with ourselves having a whole day off in the city. i love new york. maybe i’ll make a trash and vaudeville visit. (like i need more clothes… NOPE!!!) think i’m gonna hang with mr. john janick… the dude that makes it all happen. it’s been a while since we’ve hung with him and he’s always a lot of fun to talk to about music with. plus, we all share a love for pinkberry. YES!

after NYC it’s on to philly. one of our favorite cities to play. nothing like south street. i wonder if we’re playing there this time? i don’t think so for some reason… but i hardly ever look at our schedule i just get on the bus and go with everyone.

today was my baby sis’ first day of school. is summer seriously over?! my mom just told me that i used to beg her to pack salads for me in kindergarten for lunch hahah i don’t remember that. what kind of little kid wants salads for lunch? what happened to lunchables? anyone here remember lunchables? haha the pizza kind were ridiculous. but by the time i hit middle school i was a cafeteria food eatin’ kid. i would always forget to bring lunch money and have to have them put it on my school credit. so, i owed like 50 bucks by the end of each month haha. what a loser, hayley. speaking of all of this, my yearbook photo comes out tomorrow. joy.

hahah

“every new beginning comes from some other beginnings end.” - by hayley - 8/13/2008

CHI-TOWN! CHI-TOWN!

Thank you so much to everyone who came out to the show tonight. This was the best show of the tour so far.

As you might have heard - or maybe you didnt? - we filmed the show tonight for a DVD that we hope to release later this year. We had original plans to shoot the show in Central Park next week but due to complications with our production set up and the venue, we had to change locations. I have to say, at first we were a little disappointed cause we were counting on NYC but now that we’ve filmed the show and played Chicago we are MORE than stoked that tonight was the night.

I realized before we came out for encore that it was here that we played our first ever headlining show, in 2006. So, it’s even more special that we had to switch to tonight to film. Just feels right.

I gotta run cause we’re about to leave and I wanna go hang with some people from the show. They’ve been hangin outside for a while now. Just to let you guys know we got our PARAMORE RIOT BOOKS in tonight. They pretty much serve the same purpose as a year book. TONS AND TONS of pics and lyric sheets, production notes from The Final Riot Tour. And member bios. Ryan Russell did all the photos for the book… we know how much we all love that dude. So check em out at the merch booth, we think you’ll be stoked on em.

GOTTA RUN!

“TWO SURF BOARDS! (should’ve made this post earlier, sorry!)” - by Paramore - 8/12/2008

THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH FOR WINNING US TWO TEEN CHOICE AWARDS!
Best Rock Track with “crushcrushcrush” and Best Rock Group!

these are the first awards we’ve ever won as a band and we’re stoked about it.

we just got back on the bus and we’re headed for the V-Fest. playing with Nine Inch Nails… woohooo!!!
i’m really gonna have to get some sleep since we’re playing so much earlier in the day than usual (around 2pm, i think??). but really, we all just wanted to drop by and tell you guys how much we appreciate the ridiculous support. on top of the teen choice craziness, we’ve been getting all kind of updates on our video stats on the VMA voting site. thank you guys for all of it. awards really have nothing to do with why our band is a band but being supported to this extent is indescribable. we will see you guys on tour!!!

love,
ALL OF US!

“Photo Of The Week Round 5!” - by ParaWebCrew - 8//2008

This one comes from Isel in Tijuana, who must have had a blast being that close to the band on the FInal Riot! Tour in San Diego. Isel caught a great shot of Hayley with a finger in the air, as the lights of the Final Riot! blazed behind her. Nice work Isel!

As usual, we are loving your photo submissions, so keep them coming via the Submit a Photo page.

See you on tour!

“just like huck finn.” - by hayley - 8/5/2008

yesterday, we floated down the buffalo river… in canoes. it was a 6 mile journey of which we tackled with such a tenacity we might’ve been mistaken for a gang of modern day pirates. who knows?! i only had enough battery to take and send one picture of the little picnic we had on a river bank… you can check it out on our mobile stream at paramore.net!

needless to say, our couple of off days have been nice. josh and zac traveled home and the rest of us just did what we do best… hang out and be pirates. i got a call around 7am (which is not a good hour for me) from josh saying that all the flights were cancelled and he didn’t know what they were going to do about getting to arkansas. lucky for all of us, our friend brandon - who’s filming for a little DVD we’re putting out later this year - is heading this way and he hadn’t left yet… so josh and zac are taking the road trip with him and will make it in time. hopefully, they’ll be here before meet and greet!

little rock is a really nice place. we haven’t spent much time here as a band. most of you will know, this is jeremy’s hometown. he knows it like the back of his hand; he’s got stories to tell for every corner of just about every street. it’s really cool seeing a bit of his stomping grounds. hopefully, we’ll have time outside of press today to walk around and enjoy some of the city. there are all kind of funky shops… places i could get into some trouble at if i don’t keep a close guard on my per diem!

leave you with this classy little number of myself thru a fisheye lens.

“hi again.” - by hayley - 8/3/2008

mesa, arizona is scorching hot!!! my pale-ness is in a state of shock. SPF 1000 alert!!! haha

i finally finished new moon today (2nd in the twilight saga). i have been struggling through it due to the on-off-ness of our touring state the past few months. i missed the breaking dawn party last night at borders… probably a good thing because i would’ve been so excited the temptation to skip right over eclipse and tear into breaking dawn would’ve overcome me and then what kind of mess would i be in?? so anyways, now i’m a chapter into the 3rd book and the 4th will be waiting on me when i get home. (i reserved a copy - YES!) i’m stoked for the twilight movie. i think it’s gonna be really good. i’m definitely going to dress up as a vampire to go see it. wanna fight about it?

tomorrow is a drive day and we’ll be headed somewhere between here and little rock to stay the night, before we have another day off in little rock. jeremy’s taking us canoeing or something which i’m way too excited for. he’s been trying to take us on that trip since 2004 when we started playing shows outside TN. we’ll make sure to take some good pics of that for you guys. it’s about time we update our myspace photo section anyways.

our first band BBQ is happening today at the fan club M&G. we are stoked. it’s about time we organized these types of things. it makes it more fun for us and more personal for you guys, i think. i couldn’t stand the tables or the lines… that’s for a festival setting. for our own shows we’d like to think it’s possible that we can always talk to you guys and have real connection on and off the stage. i know times change but… we’ll keep resisting haha.

anyone out there hailing from manila, philippines? NFG is playing a festival or something there tonight with a whole bunch of other bands. if anyone is going… ransack the stage and give chad a big ol’ bear hug for me. okay don’t really do that… it’s possible you could get into trouble, it’s a pretty big festival. um let’s see, there has to be another option. maybe a sign? “hayley says ‘hi”??? umm… well, whatever, if you’re going just have a great time! they’re gonna be so awesome!!!

alright i’m out haha. that movie shooter just came on. marky mark wahlberg is tearin it up!

“i thought stepbrothers ruled, personally.” - by hayley - 8/2/2008

hello loves,

5 days into the tour, 3 shows - 4th tonight in San Diego. i’m so stoked to be here. i spent yesterday in Los Angeles hangin with some friends. went to Amoeba Music! grabbed In and Out and saw Stepbrothers. what a great day off. (i guess i’m only capitalizing proper nouns, here).

so, the reason i’m posting today is actually to let you guys know that we are running a contest with Sweet Leaf tea. mmm so yummy! together, we are flying two winners out to our show at Central Park in NYC!!! keep looking out for details… either here or at www.sweetleaftea.com!

i have to go soundcheck, sorry this is so short - i’ll be posting more regularly once we really get into the tour. thanks so much to everyone who’s already come out to a show or has already bought tickets to an upcoming show. we’re having a blast so far and it’s only gonna get better.

okay, really gotta run! laterrr
hbombdiggity

I’ll post more stuff in a bit! And watch out for regular updates now :)

More Articles!

As promised here are some more articles. This first one is from the local paper where I live, called “The Plain Dealer”. They recently interviewed Hayley.

Pop-punk band Paramore is getting a lot of mileage out of its 2007 album “Riot!,” which has yielded a string of hits, including “crushcrushcrush.” Carrot-topped singer Hayley Williams, 19, gave us a ring last week before a gig in Asbury Park, N.J.

Q: John Mayer called you “the great orange hope.”

A: Yeah. [laughs] It was pretty funny. John’s an awesome dude. We’ve hung out with him a couple times. He always has good things to say, not necessarily about us, but just music in general.

Q: Congratulations on your MTV Video Music Award nomination for “crushcrushcrush.” Do you have fond memories of making the video?

A: Yeah, totally. It was just such a different experience for us. We’d never shot a video outside before, using a lot of natural light. Definitely were attacked by Mother Nature a couple times. There was a huge sand storm right in the middle of our set. It killed the catering. But I had a blast doing it. You can probably tell just from the hair extensions, the clothes, the makeup and everything — it was definitely a cool vibe.

Q: How soon will you get busy on a follow-up to “Riot!”?

A: Me? I’m just getting warmed up. I’m waiting to get home to really focus on the lyrics and the melodies and stuff. I do better when I’m at home or when I’m in a place where I can just put all my focus into one thing. Maybe it’s the ADD. I don’t know. Obviously we’re going through plenty of things as a band all the time. . . . but we don’t really deal with normal situations on the road. And I like to write about life that everyone can relate to. Josh [Farro, Paramore guitarist] is doing well with the music side of things. He’s writing a lot. I’m really excited about the things I’m hearing from Josh. . . . There’s been some really heavy stuff; there’s been some really beautiful, lighter type of stuff. We really would like to have something out by next summer.

Q: Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders, another female-fronted rock band, doesn’t like to make a big deal about her gender. Do you feel the same?

A: Yeah. It’s not something I like to focus on, just because it’s never been something that mattered to us as a band. The fact that I’m a girl just doesn’t really have anything to do with it. We play music just the same as a bunch of dudes that are onstage with no girls in sight. There’s not really any gender. Maybe that sounds weird, but I just don’t think about gender when it comes to music. I just create music and have fun doing that. Some guys don’t get it. Some girls don’t get it. But I enjoy it. The main thing I think that we want to make sure people know is, we’re not the band to capitalize on my sexuality. I’m a girl. I have a different voice than if I were a guy. I look different, I wear different clothes and do my hair different. But I highly doubt I’m the chick that’s gonna be flying around in a cropped T-shirt and miniskirt.

This next article is from Buzznet. They interviewed here, and she talks about Paramore’s fame.

Paramore’s RIOT! has gone gold and the band has thousands of fans in every city, but Hayley Williams still doesn’t feel like she’s famous.

“It still surprises me when I hear one of our songs on the radio or see a picture of us in a magazine. I still don’t get why the hell someone would care to have one of our signatures on something of theirs … haha. On a daily basis, we are asked, if not by a journalist then by a fan, what it feels like to be famous, and yet I still draw a blank every time. Because, to me, we are just the same. The only true difference between the life we lived before RIOT! and the life we live now is that every little thing, every-insignificant-thing that we do is cared for in some way,” Williams wrote in a recent entry on the band’s Livejournal page.

And just so you know … Williams does pay attention the things that are written about her … so watch what you say online! “Whether it be concern, obsession, hate, a genuine interest or delight … everyone has their opinion and we hear them all at some point. I just don’t get it yet.”

Do you think Paramore is famous? Do you feel Williams is being modest or does she really feel the same?

Paramore has announced plans to release a live DVD from their recent show in Chicago. The band is currently on the “Final Riot” tour with Jack’s Mannequin.

More to come later, possibly.

Articles Galore

I’m back and ready to start updating again! Here are a few articles, more to come soon.

Paramore Ready To Tour & Make New Album

After multiple U.S. tours that have seen Nashville, Tenn., emo rockers Paramore go from clubs to large venues, bassist Jeremy Davis is still nervous about the opening night of his band’s tour.

“I won’t be nervous after the first or second night,” Davis said, calling from Reno, Nev. “I’ve got some friends here, so I’m hoping everything goes well. But we have a whole new set that’s a really long, detailed set list, a lot of stuff we’ve never done before. I’ve very excited about it.”
Flint Journal Extras

Davis explained that the faith-based group, led by spitfire lead singer Hayley Williams, isn’t just performing the hits like “Crushcrushcrush” and “Misery Business” from its two albums, “All We Know is Falling” and the platinum-selling “Riot!” The Warped Tour veterans are playing deep cuts as well.

“Some of the new stuff we’re playing is really cool,” Davis said. “It’s a lot more fun to play. We were playing the same old thing for a long, long time. Some are songs we’ve never played before. All the other songs that we’ve played before. The songs we did before, most of them we play different than we ever played before. We redid them, and it’s a lot of fun.”

“Riot!” was released in June 2007, and Davis admitted it’s time to start work on a new album. He said slyly that Paramore — which also includes brothers Josh Farro on lead guitar and drummer Zac Farro — has a few ideas, however, nothing is complete.

“We have some pretty cool ideas that are sounding pretty awesome,” said Davis, whose girlfriend is from Garden City. “I can’t wait to do that. After this tour, we’re going to take off for two weeks, then we have a three-week tour in South America. We’ve never been there before. We’re excited. After that, then we’ll take off and work on a record, probably.”

Those words should soothe tweens and teens who feared Paramore was ending when it canceled its European tour for the dreaded “personal reasons” earlier this year.

“There were lots and lots of rumors going around about all that,” Davis said with a laugh. “We’ve always done what everybody asked us to do and gone wherever we needed to go and done whatever we could for everyone. We’ve never been selfish before.

“After touring that long with no break and no vacations, it got really tough and physically hard on our bodies. We felt we needed to be selfish and take time off.”

Paramore: After Tour, More Work Ahead

The band’s sophomore album went platinum, much to its surprise.

It’s all about setting goals for Paramore bassist Jeremy Davis.

When the Franklin, Tenn.-based band entered the studio to record its sophomore album “Riot!,” which was released last year, the punk-pop group’s objective was simple.

“Our main goal was to come out of there, be better musicians and just to really make it an experience instead of just going in and throwing down some songs,” said Davis, calling from the V-Fest concert festival in Baltimore, Md. “We wanted to come out of the studio and for people to be able to notice a difference.

“So we spent a lot of time practicing and getting to know our instruments better and working with each other more and even adding more instruments. Literally, that worked wonders for us because we were touring for several years playing the same songs without basically having any time to get better. So that was the biggest difference, and I think it showed.”

He’s right. While Paramore’s 2005 debut effort, “All We Know is Falling,” did get the band noticed, the album failed to break the band into the mainstream. Then came the late spring 2007 release “Riot!,” which, buoyed by the success of its four singles – “Misery Business,” “Hallelujah,” “Crushcrushcrush” and “That’s What You Get” – has gone platinum.

Davis said nobody is more surprised about the disc’s success than the band itself.

“When we released the album ‘Riot!,’ we had a goal to sell 500,000 records by the time we came out with another record,” Davis said. “So it was amazing to us when we crossed 500,000 the first few months in. It was the biggest shock ever. Then we had to make new goals for ourselves, but it was pretty cool.”

One of the goals of the Hayley Williams-led band was to polish its live show. After many touring legs, including on last summer’s Warped Tour and last fall as an opener for Jimmy Eat World, the foursome is now on its last outing. “The Final RIOT! Tour” comes to Northeast Ohio for an Aug. 24 show at the Time Warner Cable Amphitheatre at Tower City.

The current set list includes all of the group’s hits, many of which are reworked.

The band is also performing Jeff Buckley’s version of Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ as an intro to its own track “Hallelujah.” Davis said something else exciting for fans is the fact that the group is playing “Riot!” track “We Are Broken” for the first time. The song has been completely dismantled and changed from its studio form.

Perhaps such an adventurous performance within the live realm will lend itself to Paramore getting creative with its highly anticipated third studio album, which the band hopes to record this fall and release next summer.

Davis admits fears abound within the band regarding its next project. He said there are too many examples of one-album wonders for this quartet to take things lightly. That means there are plenty of goals left in this band’s future.

“If there was something with the next album I was afraid of, it would be that it was viewed as a fad kind of music,” Davis said. “We’re all in this for the long run, and that’s why we took the grass-roots route in the first place, to establish a good fan base.

“So I’d hate to have us fall off the face of the planet. That’s kind of one of my worst fears.”

Hayley Williams: ‘I’m NOT depressed’

Haley Williams has taken to her blog to muse about the success of her band over the past 18 months, and denies she is in any depressed.

In a blog entitled ‘disclaimer: i’m not depressed. i’m actually severely happy’, the Paramore singer says:

“i was thinkin… and i wanted to write about it. the past year and a half has not been easy or hard. honestly, i can’t remember much of it because it went by too fast for me to understand what was actually going on. it still surprises me when i hear one of our songs on the radio or see a picture of us in a magazine. i still don’t get why the hell someone would care to have one of our signatures on something of theirs haha.”

She goes on to say she “draws a blank” every time she is asked what it’s like to be famous, and is fascinated by the interest in her and her band.

“nothing changes the fact that there’s always someone out there coming up with new theories about us, new ideas so that they can get a grip or put a handle on who we are” she writes. “i might sound bitter but actually i’m just a little bit fascinated. i still haven’t really figured out what it means to be known of but not understood in any way shape or form. i could fill a hundred pages of lyrics, poetry, broken thoughts and still never be understood even the slightest. it’s a good thing. i just don’t get it yet.”

And she says she regrets ever feeling that she may have wanted to give it all up saying:

“everyone wants what they can’t have but when i look back on days i thought i wanted something completely different than all of this - i can see how stupid that was. how selfish i was to ever try putting myself in someone else’s story.”

Meanwhile, Paramore continue their North American tour with the following shows:

Montreal Metropolis (August 2)
Toronto Kool Haus (August 23)
Cleveland Time Warner Cable Amphitheatre (August 24)
St. Paul, MN State Fair Grandstand (August 26)
New York, NY Rumsey Field at Central Park (August 28)
Portsmouth, VA NTelos Wireless Pavilion (August 29)
Wallingford, CT Chevrolet Theatre (August 30)

Paramore to Perform at MTV Video Music Awards

Washington (ANI): Rihanna, Paramore

While Rihanna will be performing her "Umbrella" hit along with a live rendition of her new hit "Disturbia", Pink will give an explosive performance with her new single "So What".

"I can't wait," People magazine quoted Pink, as saying. Rapper T.I. is also set to perform at the event after his arrest in Atlanta last year. The hit band Paramore, whose “Crushcrushcrush” has been nominated for Best Rock Video and the Best Art Direction in a Video, will also be lending their charisma to the event.

lil wayne, ya’ll

… we haven’t shot a live dvd yet. has nothing to do with the city haha we sucked that night. messed up too much. wow, can’t win. and that spelling error was ace as well, huh? sometimes, it happens.

tomorrow is a day off! we’re stoked to be playing another show in Idaho in a couple of days, as we don’t go through there that often. last time we were there was on Warped. the crowd was pretty awesome that day. man, i miss Warped tour. this summer will be strange not being on the whole thing. one week of Warped just isn’t enough. not sure why i’ve been thinking about that so much lately, but i have.

the guys are in the front making videos of themselves dancing to that “lick me like a lollipop” song hahaha. they have carroll - our monitor guy (who rules) - doing all sorts of dances. which i’m sure looks AMAZING. and i’m just chillin’ in my bunk… today took a lot out of me, for some reason. we didn’t hardly do anything but play the show but i’m beat. oh man, now it’s “smack that”. i’m gonna wait to watch the videos, i don’t want to ruin it for myself. who knows maybe the guys will decide to post those?

well this has been a really informative livejournal post. haha. hope you guys are doin’ well.
if we haven’t seen you at a show yet, we’ll see you soon!

well hello…

sorry it’s been a minute since we’ve updated. we’re a week into the Jimmy Eat World tour and so far, it’s been one of the most enjoyable and relaxing US tours we’ve been on. the shows have been beyond ridiculous… i can’t believe some of the rooms we’re playing. not to mention, sharing the stage with JEW and Dear and the Headlights is so much fun. we owe it to you guys. this is a tour we’ve dreamt about since we started playing shows; before we were even Paramore. so, thank you for getting us here.

i needed to post this story back in March, but i kept putting it off and forgetting… i got a package in the mail the other day from Tooth and Nail Records. i knew i hadn’t ordered anything from them, so it was a little weird. i opened the package to find a mewithoutYou vinyl, with a demo of Nice and Blue pt. 2 on it. so, obviously i was stoked… but i still didn’t really understand. then i noticed all over both sides of the sleeve were hand written messages from Mike and Aaron Weiss (guitar player and singer, respectively). now, they are one of my favorite bands… so i freaked out a little. i’ve met them a couple times and had great conversation but this was just on a whole different level. Aaron’s message to me was revolving around the difficult time our band was having out on the road and the short break we were taking. without going into too much detail cause i believe it to be a little personal, he talked about the fact that it is a beautiful thing to struggle as a Christian. to be purified like gold in a fire. i know most of you don’t share the same faith as us, but i still wanted to share that story. because maybe you can find your own meaning in it. Aaron also said that he’d been told about our situation through a friend named Monika, someone who i’m pretty sure is an active member on the LJ community. when i opened the sleeve, i found a letter from Monika… and when i read it i wanted to cry. She had ordered the vinyl for herself and when she heard about what was going on with the band she sent it to me to lift my spirits. even though she really wanted to hear the demo and she loves mwY…. probably even more than I do haha. i was extremely humbled by that. i still haven’t thanked you personally, Monika, but that was one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me.

our fans rule. it’s not even about the shows or how loud you guys can scream from the crowd. it’s a connection. one that i don’t see too often with bands in our scene. here’s to the dream tour.

i must find a t-mobile store. my scenekick is jacked up. see you tonight!
